Communication now comes in many forms. The modern forms are of course texting, MSN, Facebook and Twitter; all of which I am guilty of. Though I think that the greatest form of communication is through song lyrics; although, being a music lover, I would probably say that! Most artists of today and indeed the past express their views through music. Rage Against The Machine are a perfect example.
Without communication, we are nothing. Look how far we have come. From the first notions of communication, to where we are today, communication plays a key role in our society. Though I suppose losing all forms of communication would bring our current society not only to it knees, but probably to it's destruction.
Losing communication at the dawn of man would probably not be such a big deal. The species' span of existence (relatively speaking) would be short, and would fizzle out, without affecting too much else.
It's amazing today the ways in which we have learnt to communicate, not only in the terms of today's technology, but in things such as body language. As we grow up, we learn that certain gestures or postures convey different meanings. Even things such as eye contact, when made at the right time.
For example, if you and your friend were talking to someone else, and they said that they wanted to do something that you think is dangerous/wrong/bad, and your friend shares the same opinion, you make eye contact, communicating with eachother; telling your friend that you share that opinion.
That is the height of human intelligence. Two beings can make eye contact and know exactly what the other is thinking, without anything else. We can tell many things about someone by their body language; perhaps in the style of Sherlock Holmes, or at least the 'modern' one?
